Jun 12, 2013 · I agree that the weight is similer between a scope and mount vs an Elcan. However, I think there is more to the story. I think the way all the weight of an Elcan is concentrated into a short chunk vs possibly a wider distribution and maybe the lever effect of hanging a scope foward makes it balence much better.
